Exodus 20:16-17

These are the two final top Ten Commandments from YHWH.  This post will emphasize the ones about bearing false witness and coveting.  You will notice that I am not using the more popular and modern definitions of these two Commandments.  Many people make the mistake that bearing false witness is lying.  Just as many people make the mistake of claiming that coveting is equal to jealousy.  I will prove these for the errors that they are in this post.

Number 9: Giving False Witness against your neighbor.  Bearing false witness is different than lying.  The difference between “false witness” and lying is subtle but distinct.  Bearing false witness is lying about someone.  Lying is telling something that is not true with the intent to deceive about any subject.  Unfortunately, bearing false witness is endemic to our culture: politics and business, and worse in religion.  In other verse in the Word of God, lying is considered a sin, but it is not in the top ten!  But of course both bearing false witness and lying are extremely harmful to society.  The first, bearing false witness ruins the reputation of good and innocent people.  The second, lying, causes harm by breaking down trust that is required to carry out transactions and gain support from other people.  Since bearing false witness is part of the US’s politics, business, and religion we will never see YHWH blessing on this country.  It is the Christian’s, in the US, own fault for this.  They can attempt to blame the gay community, the liberals, or the Atheist, but when it comes down to the bottom line, this one “sin” is accepted by Christians everywhere.  And with the concept that YHWH punishes to the fourth generation of those who sin against him (Exodus 20:5-6) it will be at least 160 years before the US will gain YHWH’s favor.  Christians you have a lot of work ahead of you, since you are the ones responsible for this particular sin.  Christians are a majority of leaders in business and politics here in the US, if they do not change the way they carry out their responsibilities the minor actions of groups like Atheists and gays will not change YHWH fury!

Number 10: Coveting someone else’s property.  This is not jealousy.  Jealousy is the resentment of someone else’s success or advantage.  Coveting is the desire, without regarding other people’s rights, for something.  Notice the difference.  Jealousy is about results, the subjective.  Coveting is about property, possession, or the objective.  That is not to say that jealousy is harmful to society, but it is not part of the 10 Commandments.

The Traditions of Men have perverted these last two Commandments to greater coverage of actions than YHWH intended.  So, in these cases, two sins have occurred that YHWH looks unfavorably at.  First, the Traditions of Men have superseded YHWH’s commandments (Mark 7:6-13).  Second, humans have added to the Word of God (Deut 4:2).  With the knowledge that YHWH punishes to the fourth generation those who disobey him, it is no wonder that Christianity today is such a meaningless practice.  All Ten Commandments are broken by Christians on a nearly daily basis.  And yet somehow, Christian claim to have the higher moral ground!

Exodus 20:14-15

It looks like the United States is in for an extended period of time before we receive the blessing of YHWH.  And the next two commandments don’t help.  They just happen to be about adultery and stealing.  The statistics of these “sins” are staggering.  And unlike the previous Commandments where religion can influence the outcome, it is religion itself that makes these nearly impossible to correct.

Number 5: You shall not commit adultery.  This one alone will not change.  The percent of adultery that occurs is in the US has reached 50 – 70%.  More shocking is the percent by religion: Barna Research Group has discovered that the lowest divorce rate in the US is between the Catholics, Lutheran, and Atheist!  Now as you know remarriage is considered adultery (Matt 5:21-22)!  So by Jesus’ standards, that he expected his followers to obey, in US adultery is the biggest problem towards receiving YHWH blessing.  Remember, YHWH punishes to the four generation those who do not obey his commands (Exodus 20:5).  As you read through these 10 commandments, it should become clear to you that the United States, in fact any country, will never be able to receive YHWH blessing.

Number 6: You shall not steal.  Wow, this one is a killer!  The foundations of this country were on two acts of stealing.  First, we cheated (stole) the land of the American Indians.  Then, we (North and South) stole African to work as slaves here in the US.  In neither transaction did we pay proper value for the “commodities” we “purchased”.  But even today we continue to steal from each other.  Worker salaries are a condition of stealing.  This occurs either by forcing them to work more hours/week (nurses) than is legal or negotiated (salaried persons).  But salary is not the only thing that is being stolen from these workers: time, energy, health, and family are also being stolen.  Forcing workers to extend the work day/week is stealing time that these people need to accomplish other required activities.  A single human being only has so much energy that their bodies can produce.  Being pushed beyond those limits is stealing those people’s rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Worse is the stealing of a worker’s health.  The rates of sickness in the US compared to European nations prove this point.  So you have to understand that stealing from the worker is actually stealing from the company, which leads to stealing from the investors of that company.  It is a lose/lose situation for everyone.  Maybe that is why stealing ranks in the top ten sins a community can perform!

These two “sins” or breaking of the 10 commandments are universal.  Worse, Christian and non-Christian do not recognize the harm that these acts cause.  And even when it is recognized, it is ignored.  “It’s just the way it is” and “the company cannot compete” are the rationalizations used to allow these two acts of breaking these two Commandments.  As an Atheist, I do not see any supernatural agent in understanding the harm that these two “sins” create.  It is obvious, in communities that breaking these two commandments are harmful to the entire society.

Exodus 20:12-13

It looks like I will only be able to cover two of these “commandments” at a time.  In this post I will address “honoring your mother and father” and “shall not murder”.  Here the Christians are truly worse than the “godless”.

Number 5: Honoring our parents.  Sure the US has two days out of the year called Mother’s day and Father’s day were the citizens of the US honor their parents.  But that is not enough to eliminate the punishment of 4 generations.  This concept requires much more.  In the textual study guide, the NIV comments that to honor is to do more than remember our parents on two special days.  It lists three things that must be done: prize highly, show respect, and obey!  Today, one of the greatest crimes in the US against the elderly.  One of the major contributors to this problem is that adult Americans leave their parents to live alone.  We stick them in nursing homes were abuse can occur.  We allow children and teenagers to be disrespectful to parents and grandparents.  Worse, we do not even have a national Hate Crime Bill that enforces tough penalties to those who cause damage to our older generation.  The US breaks this commandment from YHWH daily.

Number 6: Do not murder.  The US fails this one by the fact that we are at war with two nations.  What more can I say.  I can say that Christians should be the first to protest these atrocities.  Yet instead, they are the ones most ardently pushing for more!  Do I need to remind you of our recent nominee for VP who claimed that the war in Iraq was in accordance with the will of YHWH?  Should I point out who is screaming for war against Iran and North Korea?  Do you really want me to remind you that it is Christians who want the blood of Islamic fundamentalist? 

Again, these two commandments alone doom the US to four generations of punishment from YHWH.  If we were to “clean up our act”, right away, it would be 160 years before YHWH would “Bless the USA” again!  And we can be certain that it will take this long, because remember – YHWH is unchanging (Malachi 3:6, James 1:17).

Exodus 20:7-11

These are the other 10 commandments.  Again, those in the US that believe that these are important codes that should be displayed by the use of government money are forgetting that the US, as a nation, has broken every rule.  I will continue with the other seven commandments.

Number 3: The misuse of YHWH’s name is forbidden.  “In God We Trust” is placed on every currency printed by the US government.  You realize that this is swearing by the name of YHWH!  What is it swearing?  This swear is that our currency is good.  Jesus takes this further in Matt 5:33-37.  This means that the US is fucked!  Every generation since 1957 will be punished.  If we were to correct this problem we would have to wait at least 160 (four generation) years before YHWH would “Bless the USA” again. 

Number 4: Remember the Sabbath.  Since we have elected to no longer obey the Blue Laws, the US has broken this commandment.  We allow work on the Sabbath.  Even worse is that the Christian Sabbath and the Jewish Sabbath are on different days.  Which one is the one YHWH wants to be “holy”?  First we must determine which one is to be respected.  Second, we must install a national Blue Law.  Then we must wait the “four generations” before we, the citizen of the US, can begin to receive YHWH’s blessings. 

Wow, can you believe it.  This “Christian” nation and we are sinning.  Even the Christians are causing the sin!  And we know that we will not receive YHWH’s blessings for at least 160 years, if we correct our errors immediately.  The ironic thing is that it is the Christians themselves who will not correct their sins against commandment number 3!  And we can be certain that it will take this long, because remember – YHWH is unchanging (Malachi 3:6, James 1:17).

Exodus 20:1-6

This is the Ten Commandments.  The ironic thing is that these commandments were not just for the people of Israel, but fort the community as well.  Here in the US, we have a large contingent of people who believe that the Commandments should be on display and that our government should pay for the creation and placement of these religious “art works”.  The truly ironic thing about the commandments is that the US itself and all the US population have broken everyone of these commandments.  Let me show you.

Number 1 and 2: No other gods…these are inseparable.  Americans worship sports superstars, actors and actresses, and even the Almighty Dollar (which ain’t so mighty these days).  We, as a nation, allow those of other faiths and religions to continue to worship as is their constitutional rights. 

More about commandment number two is that of YHWH punishment and “love”.  I have always had difficulty understanding how justice can be applied to the concept of this verse:

Exodus 20:5-6 You shall not bow down to them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

The problems with this “justice” are numerous.  The first thing that should strike you is that YHWH bends his own commandment #10!  The definition of “covet” is to envy someone else.  But the difference between envy and jealousy are complex.  On Dictionary.com under thesaurus heading “jealousy pertains to emotional rivalry while envy is resentment of a more fortunate person”. 

So it is only wrong to want what others have.  It is perfectly fine, since YHWH does it to have emotionally rivalry!

But this is not the only problem.  Notice that YHWH punishes 3 – 4 generations after the sinful father.  So even one act accomplished by one person, who “deserves” punishment, leads to an exponential group being punished.  If you consider even two children per generation that lead to YHWH punishing 16 innocent people.  If on the other hand you recognize that most Biblical mating had more offspring than that…at three children per generation: 81 innocent people would be punished.  How is punishing innocent people just or loving?

But it gets worse.  YHWH claims to “show love to a thousand generations…”.  Do you know how many years a thousand generations are?  Bare minimum it is 2000 years.  YHWH as of yet has not shown this love!  What nation has been blessed by YHWH in history for 2000 years?  Not a single one.  Now the rationalization is that humans are sinful and as a result, deserve YHWH punishment.  As a result, YHWH has not had the opportunity to bless 1000 generations.  He would, if only humanity would obey his commands.  But this is a catch-22.  YHWH never has to hold up his side of the bargain, because he created us to be sinful!  I have proven, over and over again, that we do not have freewill.  As a result, humanity will sin and YHWH will get to skirt his own promise.  Exodus 20:6 is a worse than a lie.  It is a carrot, tied to a stick, hung on a harness in front of the horse.  We can never reach it, but only if we could…YHWH would bless us.  Do you see how ridiculous this concept is?  The whole situation guarantees that YHWH does not ever, under any circumstance, have to protect his followers.  One slip and the promise, from verse 6, is void.  It is a dirty trip played with contractual obligations.  A game that a truly loving supernatural being would not use.
